In some applications it is required to use a third party temperature sensor for the unit operational control.
A common example is when having a home automation thermostat with a temperature sensor that the integrator would like to feed the unit for control as room temperature instead of the built in return air temperature sensor.
Most VRF systems don't support this feed feature through the main communication line with an exception of Mitsubishi Electric.
CoolMaster with a Mitsubishi Electric VRF system - feed instructions
Please follow the steps below to configure:
- Set the indoor's dip switch 1 in SW1 to the ON position.
- Power cycle the indoor unit to apply the change.
-
To verify that the indoor unit accepts the command send 'feed'
command directly
from CM5 to the Indoor. (terminal command)
For example: feed L1.001 25.
If you get "Feed Disabled" response, then SW1-1 switch is not Enabled.
Other supported 'feed' devices
-
Line type GRNS:
- Underfloor heating board (SMT-HOA) - In this case the feed will be set as the heating zone temperature.
-
Line type UMM with GS538 scan:
- Fan coil or heat pump controller GS538/9 will replace the return air sensor.
-
Any connected CoolPlug:
- Needs a unit configuration to select the thermostat sensor as the room temperature setting instead of the return air sensor. This is done according to the manufacturer's instructions.
