Alert Notification Management

New, more intuitive Alert Group Setup interface 

Fully backward compatible with existing alert groups: all previous settings are preserved as-is, with more flexibility going forward.

Follow the steps in the different tabs to define what to notify on: which alerts to trigger on; how you want to receive notifications (set in Notification Options); whether you want to receive a periodic alert summary report by email; and which recipients should receive the notifications and/or summary reports.

Periodic Summary Report 

Register to receive a periodic alert summary report tailored to your needs.

You can set the frequency of the periodic report: daily at hh:mm, weekly on a chosen day at hh:mm, or monthly on a chosen day at hh:mm.

The report file has multiple tabs, covering all alerts that occurred during the period along with their up-to-date status.

 

Smart aggregation of alerts for VRF system-level errors into a single instance

Significantly reduces the number of notifications caused by system-level error codes. In most VRF systems, system-level alerts trigger on all IDUs and all ODUs. The smart aggregation logic combines these into a single alert instance, from when it was first detected on any unit in the system until it is closed on all units of that system. The report shows only this aggregated alert rather than the full list of affected units — all individual unit alerts remain visible in the alert log for reference.

Important note: this aggregation cannot currently be combined with “Send notifications with alert status update every XX min.” Support for using both together will be added in a future version.

 

Option to disable email notifications when an alert closes 

In the Notification Options tab, simply uncheck “Send notifications when alert status changed to closed.”

 

User preference: how unit names appear in the alert log 

Choose whether units are shown as “Unit Name (Control Address)” or just “Unit Name” without the control address.

Set it up at User Profile → User Preferences → “Alert Log Unit Display” toggle.

 

Power Distribution Health Metrics Indication

Catch and get notified about PPD site issues before they affect your customer PPD reports.

  • The PPD excel report now includes a new “PPD Health” tab that highlights issues affecting the accuracy of the calculation and, ultimately, the reports. It highlights the following info: unmapped power meters, disconnected units, units with low availability, units with unset capacity, excess consumption events, and units not mapped to any tenant.
  • New real-time Maintenance alert type: “Power Meter Data Out of Range” – flags when a power meter reports values outside the expected range, which may indicate a problematic power meter or an integration issue with the system.

 

Navigate directly from Unit Diagnostics to System Diagnostics – keep analysis context

While reviewing your selected unit parameters in Unit Diagnostics, pin a specific point on the graph, then open System Diagnostics in a new browser tab with the same pinned timestamp and selected parameters carried over.

How to use:

  • Click the Unit Diagnostics graph to pin a specific timestamp, then click “Open System Diagnostic” in the parameter window (see example below) to open the new tab.
  • To cancel the pinned parameter window, simply click anywhere on the graph to continue browsing.

 

 

 

EDGE device: automatic line scan for GS-SMT-IO and GS-SMT-HOA

How to setup:

  • In the EDGE device configuration, Interfaces tab, select line type Modbus RTU, check “Automatic discovery of supported devices,” then select which device you want to automatically detect on the line.

Note: when set, only the selected device model will be found on the line, and no other Modbus devices can be set for the same line.

 

iocControl: apply control settings to multiple units in one click

Much faster site setup in the mobile app.

How to use:

  • In Unit Settings, scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Copy Settings to…”
  • In the pop-up, select the units you want the settings applied to, then click Apply.

 

 

Interlocking Alert Actions

New Interlocking Alert Action: attach a notification to a specific unit

It is now possible to attach an Interlocking Alert action to a specific unit, site, or system, so it can be easily tracked later in the alert log. The user selects the unit, site, or system the alert will be attached to.

Sys Diagnostics: replay investigation history automatically (play-pause / fast-fwdfst-rwd)

A new player for the System Diagnostics timeline — play, pause, fast-forward/rewind at multiple speeds, jump to start or end, and step back or forward one minute at a time, instead of clicking through minute by minute.

Dragging the timeline point also immediately updates the values in the table for quicker navigation.

Modbus Units Integration

Read a specific bit in a Modbus holding register – allows binary resolution for holding registers by selecting a specific bit within the register.

Apply a formula to a Modbus register value – a new “Convert” field lets you apply a formula (e.g. (V+20)/2) to the register's read/write value — perfect for converting between engineering units (e.g. Celsius and Fahrenheit) or other custom conversions.

Note: this conversion is applied in addition to the Scale function, which is also supported. If both are set, the scale is applied first, then the Convert formula. In the write direction, the order is reversed: convert first, then scale.

Modbus Library Management – a new library management screen makes it easier to manage a site's Modbus devices, units, and control libraries, with easy import and export of libraries between sites.

Modbus Control UI defaults to the CoolAutomation Universal HVAC unit design – when no Control UI is defined for a Modbus unit and the unit is set as a universal unit, it opens in the Control tab as a standard CoolAutomation HVAC unit, with all mapped universal parameters shown in their regular locations, just like a standard HVAC unit.

Modbus units on control Floor Plan View – Modbus units can now be placed and viewed on the Floor Plan, just like BACnet units, giving you a full visual layout of your site regardless of protocol.

Modbus units are now shown as a list of parameters in iocControl.

 

Search parameter name in System/Unit Diagnostics tabs

A new search box in the parameter selection (+) popup lets you quickly find the parameter you need, instead of scrolling through an alphabetical list.

 

iocControl: Ecobee integration disabled by default

To enable it: go to User Profile → User Settings and check “Enable Ecobee support.”
